The brewer owner of brands such as Budweiser, Stella Artois and Beck's, completed its first delivery of carbon-free beer last Thursday, November 21 in St. Louis Missouri.
On the appointed day, Bud Light product was picked up from local brewery Anheuser-Brusch by a Nikola electric hydrogen truck and taken to AB InBev's local wholesale distributors, Lohr Distributors.
Lohr distributors later used an all-electric truck manufactured by BYD to deliver the beer to the iconic sports and concert venue.
Nikola Motor Company says AB InBev's delivery marked Chile Mobile Number List the first time one of its hydroelectric semi-tucks has been used to make a commercial voyage.
AB InBev first placed its order with Nikola in May 2018, requesting 800 hydroelectric semi-trailers . The vehicles will be integrated into its fleet in early 2020 as the brewer strives to run its entire long-haul truck fleet on clean energy by 2025.
At AB InBev, we continually seek innovative ways to improve sustainability across our value chain, moving towards achieving our sustainability goals and driving our industry forward.
Ingrid De Ryck, vice president of procurement and sustainability at AB InBev.
"No single company can build a more sustainable future on its own, but this zero-emissions delivery has demonstrated what is possible when we bring together the diverse strengths and assets within our supplier network to work towards a shared goal of a world better".
The path so far
Elsewhere in its fleet strategy, AB InBev is exploring the possibilities of automation and other digital technologies to improve efficiency. It used an autonomous truck to deliver 50,000 cases of Budweiser across a 120-mile route in Colorado and, in 2017, placed an order for 40 Tesla plug-in semi-trailers.
In its UK operations, AB InBev recently began testing liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a truck fuel.
As for Nikola Motor Company, the semi-hydroelectric is expected to compete for market share with Tesla 's all-electric semi-truck . The Tesla model was scheduled for 2019 production, but timelines have been pushed back due to delays associated with the " Cybertruck " and other vehicles.
Going forward, Nikola plans to start selling a hydrogen-powered autonomous truck in several European markets in 2023.
